Travel-Journal 02/2021

Unfortunately there is no new February adventure this year.

What’s new?

We haven’t been idle in the past and have visited many exciting and interesting places. Little by little we will write down our experiences again in an adventure and publish them. But until that happens, we would like to give you the opportunity to browse our new Älgwiki articles in advance. Maybe we can help you find your new destination to explore.

February made it impossible for us to go on a new adventure. Nevertheless, we want you to be part of our memories and take you to new places.

Île Saint-Honorat
Île Saint-Honorat

Île Saint-Honorat – The small natural paradise at the gates of Cannes.

The Îles de Lérins are a small group of islands on the Côte d‘Azur, near the city of Cannes. The Saint-Honorat with the monastery „Abbaye de Lérins“ is the second largest island and a car-free green oasis. So if you want to find your inner peace on the Côte d’Azur, you have come to the right place with the Cistercian monks. Not only the friars take care of the salvation, but also the herbal liqueur Lérina they produce. A visit is well worth it.

Empuriabrava Butterfly Park – experience parrots up close

Not far from the most famous sandy beach on the Costa Brava is the small butterfly park Empuriabrava. In addition to exotic plants and animals, the park is also home to some other curiosities that can be admired up close. By the way, you read that right. The real attraction of the butterfly park are the many parrots that like to sit on your shoulder. So if you are not afraid of contact, you can get to know the animals closer than anywhere else.

Pöstlingberg – Experience the Upper Austrian capital in the perspective of a small Älg.

The Pöstlingberg with its pilgrimage church and landmark of Linz towers over the city at 539 meters and is visible from afar. The Pöstlingbergbahn, one of the steepest lifts in the world, climbs the local mountain in just 20 minutes and takes visitors comfortably from the main square to the mountain station. If you want to know what you have to do to „sniff the dwarves“ you should definitely risk a ride with Lenzibald the dragon.

Ribe VikingeCenter – experience history up close

The VikingeCenter Ribe is an open-air museum with the aim of bringing life in the 10th century in this area closer to the visitor. The city of Ribe had long been an important trading and living center for many people. Many modern Vikings also populate the museum every summer, giving visitors the feeling of being in the middle of it instead of just being there. If you want to feel like a Viking too, you shouldn’t miss out on Ribe..
