Comino Ferry

There are several ways to get to Comino. One option is to take the ferries from Ċirkewwa (Malta) or Mġarr (Gozo). Tickets for these ferries can be purchased locally, we have paid € 10,00 per person (2019) for the round trip.

However, the return trip becomes more problematic here: Ferries dock on Comino every minute, all ships have the same inscription and at first view it is not obvious which ferry is the right one. This can only be found out with the help of the already purchased ticket, because they have a different design. So there are countless people standing at the ferry terminal waving their tickets around in the hope of catching the right ferry. By the way, the ferry doesn’t come according to plan and only takes as many passengers as fit on the ship. If you are unlucky, you can wait for the next ferry in the blazing sun.

The other option is by excursion boat starting from Sliema (Malta), San Pawl il-Baħar (Malta) or Mġarr (Gozo). The trip with the excursion ship is more expensive than the trip with the ferries, but mostly alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and lunch are included. The ship also stops at places that are not so crowded.

Conclusion:
The outward journey with the ferry was okay, but the return journey was pure chaos. Luckily we still got a place on the ferry, otherwise we would have had to wait at least one hour for the next one. About the excursion boats we cannot make a judgement, however, we would consider these at the next time.
