A turquoise dream beach with far too many people.

The Blue Lagoon is a bay between the Comino and Cominotto islands. Between these two islands, the Mediterranean is very flat and fine sand lies on the seabed, which is why the bay shines in blue and turquoise when the sun shines.

Especially in the summer months the Blue Lagoon is a popular destination for excursions and is visited by tourists as well as Maltese people. In summer, small ferries depart regularly from Malta or Gozo to this popular bathing bay. You can read more about these ferry connections in our article about the Comino Ferry.
The water in the Blue Lagoon is clear and the area has a special ecological importance for the species living there, which is why it is also popular with divers. Unfortunately, many visitors treat this habitat very carelessly and, for example, dispose of the cover of the pineapple cocktails offered there in the sea.
The bathing area at the ferry pier is completely overcrowded and everywhere you will be offered overpriced jet ski tours, sun beds and drinks. A shady place is not to be found far and wide, unless you afford a place with sun lounger plus umbrella next to countless other people. Loud music, drunken party people and toilets are also available.

Conclusion:
The Blue Lagoon itself is beautiful, unfortunately far too many visitors are driven to this small bay. We did not have the need to stay and were glad to have found more peace at another bay.
