Almost everyone who visits Sweden would also like to see moose. If it doesn’t work in the great outdoors, there are around 30 elk parks, which give a moose guarantee. A total of eleven of them are in Småland in Southern Sweden and each advertises with its own concept.

Der Smålandet Elchpark in Markaryd ist 13 Hektar groß und und zählt jährlich ca. 50.000 bis 60.000 Besucher. Die Öffnungszeiten und Preise findet ihr auf der offiziellen Homepage. Das Besondere an diesem Park ist die Möglichkeit, die drei Kilometer lange Strecke mit dem eigenen Auto abzufahren. Eine Zeitangabe können wir an dieser Stelle nicht geben, da dies davon abhängig ist, wie sehr du dir bei deinem Besuch Zeit lässt. Im Park gibt es außerdem ein ein separates Gehege mit Bisons, auch dort darf durchgefahren werden. Es gibt natürlich auch die Möglichkeit den Park ohne Auto zu durchfahren, denn ein Zug nimmt bis zu 75 Personen mit und erkärt diesen das ungefähr 600 kg schwere Tier. Interessante Informationen erhalten auch Autofahren während dem Besuch, denn es stehen einige Informationstafeln entlang des Rundweges. Diese sind in den Sprachen Schwedisch, Englisch und Deutsch angeschrieben.

The special thing about this park is the opportunity to drive the three-kilometer route in your own car. We cannot give a time here, because it depends on how much time you take during your visit. In the park there is also a separate enclosure with bison, which can also be driven through. Of course there is also the possibility to drive through the park without a car. A train which takes the same route through the park takes up to 75 people and gives a lot of interesting information on the go about the approximately 600 kg heavy animals. Interesting information can also be obtained by driving while visiting as there are some information boards along the circular route. These are written in Swedish, English and German.

Outside the moose and bison enclosure, the Smålandet moose park offers a small petting zoo with goats, picnic areas, a souvenir shop, toilets, a café and a restaurant.

How to get there?

The Smålandet Elk Park in Markaryd is close to the highway and advertising signs announce it again and again. There is enough parking space on site in a large gravel parking lot. The tickets are bought in the souvenir shop and then shown at the entrance. Then you can start.

Conclusion:
We loved it! We spontaneously decided to visit, which we will definitely remember for a long time. The elks (looking for food) came very close to the cars and even let themselves be petted. The little ones were particularly trusting and curious. We drove several laps through the large enclosure, often stopped and learned a lot of new things about these wonderful animals.
